On Tuesday 28th January the Hyndburn’s Woodlands Project had an exciting change of pace from our usual session. This week, we were joined by Imogen, of Imogen Storey Gardens, who trained myself and the Hyndburn’s Woodlands Volunteers in managing live Willow structures!

Imogen taught volunteers how to properly weave live willow into a shape so that when new growth occurs, it will grow into the desired frame. The end goal of the project is to get the willow arch that is present on Woodnook Vale (Just below Jubilee woodlands) back into its original ‘domed’ shape. This will be visually striking, as well as offering a sheltered view (with the benches present) of Jubilee woodland.

Thank you very much to Imogen for sharing her expertise with us, your knowledge was greatly appreciated!

Thank you also to our wonderful volunteers for helping us make Hyndburn’s Woodlands more beautiful!

As always, thank you to our funders at Lancashire County Council, Hyndburn Borough Council, and the Windfall fund for making it all possible!
