On Tuesday 24th February the Hyndburn’s Woodlands Project were at Warcocks Green woodland carrying out some boundary maintenance work.
This site has previously suffered from incursions by motorcyclists and quad-bikers, it has proved quite difficult to keep them out from the site. Recently, however, a great deal of work was carried out to fell a number of large roadside conifers that were looking worse-for-wear. The resulting timber has been lined up along the boundary to act as a barrier.
This, however, did not fully stop the intruders, who managed to break into a segment. The Hyndburn’s Woodlands Volunteers sprung to action and have repaired the boundary and mended the ‘dead-hedge’.
The dead-hedge itself will add biodiversity value to the site, providing habitat for many insects, small mammals, and birds.
We finished up by conducting a short litter pick to keep the site tidy, which now looks a lot cleaner!
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who help us keep Hyndburn’s Woodlands safe and tidy
As always, thank you to our funders at Lancashire County Council, Hyndburn Borough Council, and the Windfall Fund for making it all possible
