On Tuesday 26th September the Hyndburn Woodland Volunteers were at Huncoat West woodland making the first step in the establishment of a ‘wildflower ride’.

Volunteers used scythes to cut vegetation growing on the ride, which itself seems to be remnant of the industrial past, and removed the cuttings to reduce the amount of nutrients in the patch. Woodland wildflower seeds were then spread throughout the ride which should hopefully bloom next year giving us a beautifully coloured ride with value for pollinators.

Thank you to our volunteers for helping us with this important work!
